Spagetti Sauce with Sausage
Ingredients
- 1 onion medium, small dice
- 2 lbs Italian Sausage Sweet, spicy, etc.
- 6 cloves garlic chopped
- 28 oz Crushed tomatoes plain
- 28 oz Crushed tomatoes seasoned (garlic & basil)
- 8 oz Mushrooms sliced
- 1 Bell Pepper red, yellow, or green
- 3 tbsp White sugar
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Pepper
- 1 tsp Basil dried
- 2 tbsp Oregano dried
Instructions
Brown Sausage
- Crumble 2-3 links of sausage. Slice remainder into 1-2 inch pieces.
- In a very large skillet, over medium-high heat, combine sausage, onion, and garlic. Brown sausage (it need not cook through), then drain in a colander.
Sauce
- Combine sausage/onion/garlic with remaining ingredients in a large pot.
- Stovetop: Bring to boil, then reduce to low and simmer 1 hour. Crockpot: Cook on low 4-6 hours.
