Savory Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Oatmeal

Savory Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Oatmeal

Prep Time 15 minutes
Course Main Course
Cuisine American
Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Old Fashon or Rolled Oats
  • 2/3 cup Milk
  • 1 pat Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Honey
  • 1 Egg Fried
  • 1 Tbsp Crumbled bacon or diced pancetta
  • 1/4 Cup Grated cheese Cheddar, Parmesan, etc.
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  • Fry up the bacon or pancetta if you don't have some on hand.
  • Combine oatmeal, butter, and milk. Microwave on high for 2-3 miuntes covering the bowl with a loose paper towel to catch bubble sprays. You could add a tiny pinch of salt, but using salted butter should be enough.
  • Drizzle honey on top of the oatmeal and let it stand.
  • Meanwhile, grate the cheese and fry the egg. Use a pinch of salt and plenty of pepper on the eggs. Take your time here as the oatmeal needs to sit for a while to cool and finish absorbing the milk.
  • Top oatmeal with bacon/pancetta, egg, and cheese. The bacon/pancetta and the cheese will convey a good bit of salt. If you used a lot of pepper on the eggs it will convey that too, so adjust the seaoning at the table where you can tase everything together.
